In the heart of the Sauternes country, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a striking appearance, rising out of this gently rolling countryside. The walls surrounding it give it a Hispano-Byzantine look. Its XIIIth century gateway and castle towers, along with the main building rebuilt in the XVIIth century, are tangible proof of its age. Mr Lafaurie purchased it during the Revolution, in 1794, and his outstanding knowledge of things of the earth brought the vineyard immediate renown, which was carried on by Mr D.Cordier who became owner in 1917. It is rightly described as having the extravagance of perfection.

Silvio Denz’s business partner at Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, the oenologist Denis Dubourdieu, is an expert on the vinification of world-famous white wines such as Château Pape-Clément or Clos Floridene. Not long after acquiring the estate, the partners realised that it was also possible to produce a high-calibre dry white wine at Lafaurie-Peyraguey. The assemblage consists predominantly of Sémillon, complemented by Sauvignon Blanc. The result is a well-structured dry Grand Vin with good ageing potential that can readily be decanted.

The first vintage of this new wine was produced in limited quantities (5900 bottles). It will come in a bronze-coloured bottle, also bearing engraved Femme et Raisins motif, with a silver-coloured cap and label. The engraving Femme et Raisins, a motif created by Rene Lalique in 1928, was recessed in the panelling of the Cote d'Azur Pullman Express wagon lits.

Tasting Notes:
On nose, wonderful fine mineral notes and freshness, redolent of meadows alive with wild flowers in springtime. On palate, exquisite hints of minerality, with conspicuous acidity. Aromas of yellow grapefruit, lychees and crunchy Williams pears. Vanilla and citrus in the finish.
