Kirk & Sweeney 12 Year Old Rum

在禁酒令期間，有一艘專門用來走私加勒比海國家的冧酒到美國的帆船名叫“Kirk & Sweeney”。這艘滿載冧酒船終於在1924年被海岸守衛逮過正著。“Kirk & Sweeney”的冧酒在多明尼加的家庭式蒸餾廠Bermúdez蒸餾，這廠在1857年已經開始運作。這冧酒在微焦的美國木桶陳年了12年。

During Prohibition, there was a wooden schooner known for smuggling rum from the Caribbean to the U.S; its name was Kirk & Sweeney and was finally seized in 1924 by the Coast Guard with its cargo full of rum. Kirk & Sweeney rum is produced at the Bermúdez Distillery in the Dominican Republic, a family-owned and operated distillery since 1857. The rum is aged for 12 years in new, lightly-charred, American oak.

香味強而有力，帶有雲呢拿的味道，還有焦糖，拖肥及奶油的味道。除了硬糖的香味外，也有乾果如布冧，無花果，及香蕉的味道。入口帶有鮮明的木桶味，還有橙皮及烘烤香料如玉桂，豆蔻，及一點三葉草的味道，而雲呢拿令餘韻更為悠長。

"The nose is heavy with vanilla-extract followed by caramel, toffee, and butterscotch. After the hard-candy aromas come dried fruits like plum, fig, and a hint of banana. On the palate, there is notable dusty oak, followed by a hint of orange peel with a medium-long finish of baking spices like cinnamon, cardamom pod, and a wee bit of clove, but it’s the vanilla that lingers the longest."
