Yalumba began with the planting of vines in 1849, by founder Samuel Smith. Under the moonlight, in the heart of the Barossa, he set in place a philosophy for a genuine respect for the land and a willingness to venture into the unknown.
Today, fifth generation Robert Hill-Smith is at the helm, establishing Yalumba’s international reputation for quality, authenticity, excitement and integrity. The family legacy continues with the sixth generation Jessica Hill-Smith joining the family business in 2019.
For more than a century, Cabernet Shiraz has been a focus at Yalumba. The Signature has been the flagship Barossa example since 1962. The recent release of The Caley is now their finest example; the pinnacle of Yalumba’s 171 year winemaking journey of excellence.
Origin:
Barossa Valley
Country of Origin:
Australia
Type:

Grape Varieties:
51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Shiraz
Tasting Notes:
Yalumba's 2015 The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz features complementary notes of cedar and cassis, vanilla and blackberries, mint and black olives. It's full-bodied and velvety in feel, with ample tannin but also a sense of generosity, and it has a long, grainy-textured finish. Concentrated and intense, it should age well for a decade and a half or more. This 46th vintage of The Signature has been dedicated to Darrell Kruger, Barossa vineyard manager for Yalumba since 1975.
