(Robert Parker's rating: 89 points)

(Neal Martin's rating: 94 points)

In June 1994, Eric Prissett - the former professional footballer bought a property in Bordeaux. This consists of a traditional stone house surrounded by vines in the heart of the Saint-Emillion apellation.

The vineyard, attentively tended by its new owner, quickly grew and was renamed Rol Valentin. Prissette has always attached great importance to producing the most magnificent, flamboyant, and concentrated wines possible. He works with meticulous care to embody the magic of Saint-Emilion in his wine.

Appellation:
AOC  Saint Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux

Country of Origin:
Bordeaux, France

Type:
Red/Rouge (Still)

Grape Varieties:
Merlot 90%, Cabernet Franc 10%

Tasting Notes:
(Robert Parker's rating: 89 points)
This ripe, richly fruity wine has plenty of black cherry, black currant and cedary notes intermixed with some tobacco leaf and subtle background barrique smells. The wine is medium-bodied, possesses excellent concentration, and has lost the overt herbaceousness it exhibited from barrel. Drink it over the next decade.

(Neal Martin's rating: 94 points)
The 2009 Rol-Valentin has a more reserved, but harmonious bouquet with ample brambly red fruit laced with sage, fennel and light pencil box aromas. The palate is very smooth on the entry, garmonious and poised with a fine bead of acidity. This is very well structured, spicier than many with cracked black pepper and sage towards the finish. One of the best Rol-Valentin vintages in recent years. (Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' 2009 Bordeaux tasting.)
