Chateau Moulin Saint Georges 2005 (RP: 92)

FRR000391

Chateau Moulin Saint Georges 由Vauthier家族掌管,他們正是波爾多八大名莊Chateau Ausone (Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classe A)的莊主。

Chateau Moulin Saint Georges belongs to the Vauthier family, who also owned one of the legendary winery, Chateau Ausone (Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classe A). Its 7-hectare vineyard is small, but is adjacent to Ausone that share similar terroir.  The soil is composed of clay-limestone, especially suitable for the growth of Merlot. The vineyard has planted 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, and the vines are 25-30 years old on average. The work in the vineyard is traditional and the harvests are all handpicked. The fermentation is in temperature-controlled  stainless steel vats for 4 to 5 weeks. Then the malolactic fermentation is about 18 months in 85% new French oak. About 3000 cases are produced annually.

Tasting Notes:
(Robert Parker's rating: 92 points)
One of the strongest efforts I have ever tasted from Alain Vauthier, his small St.-Emilion estate, Moulin Saint-Georges, has turned in a gorgeous 2005 with an opaque purple color and a sweet nose of blueberry and black raspberry fruit along with spring flowers. Rich, full-bodied, and still moderately tannic, this is a wonderful sleeper of the vintage and a wine capable of further evolution for at least another 10-15+ years. (Issued in 2015)
