(Robert Parker's rating: 93 points)

(James Halliday's rating: 95 points)
Ben Glaetzer

The Glaetzer family is among the earliest European winemaking families to settle in the Barossa Valley. Today, the estate is led by Ben Glaetzer, named Winemaker of the Year by Wine Enthusiast, who brings a modern interpretation to classic Australian blends and has earned wide international acclaim.

Glaetzer Anaperenna is sourced from the Ebenezer district, blending Shiraz vines aged 30 to 130 years with Cabernet Sauvignon vines aged 30 to 40 years. The wine is matured for 16 months in 100% new oak barrels (predominantly French oak with a small proportion of American oak). It is full-bodied, rich yet refined in style. Anaperenna is highly regarded by Australian wine authority James Halliday, and the wine is praised for its exceptional cellaring potential.

The name Anaperenna is inspired by Anna Perenna, the Roman goddess of the New Year, symbolising the cycle of seasons and the “enduring year.” The label features the Egyptian Ankh, a historic emblem of sunrise, regeneration, and renewal.

Tasting Notes:
(Robert Parker's rating: 93 points)
The 2021 Anaperenna Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon is supple and concentrated, fresh and bright. The wine has more levity than the blend would suggest, and it closes with a cranberry, dried mint character. It's a lovely wine, from a lovely season.

(James Halliday's rating: 95 points)
Ben Glaetzer does the great Aussie blend well, consistently offering a polished, contemporary take on the very popular wine style. It’s a deeply fruited affair, all cassis, blackberry and black cherry tones with impressive weight, depth and purity. It’s not a wine for the oak-shy, as the cedar and vanilla tones make their presence felt, but all that fruit just sucks it up like a greedy Labrador. Finishing bold with tight, compact powdery tannin and cassis leaving the impression that this will cellar like a champion.
