據史料記載，紹興女兒紅酒起源於1600多年前的晉代。女兒紅爲舊時富家生女嫁女必備之物。古時紹興當女兒出生時，父母要將幾壇酒加以雕塑或彩繪後，埋入地下陳年，待女兒出嫁時取出來大宴親朋。女兒紅之名便由此而來。

女兒紅由純糧釀造，富含人體必需氨基酸、維生素、微量元素等；適量飲用有助健康長壽。

According to the earliest references, Shaoxing Nu'er Hong appeared in Jin Dynasty (AD 266–420). In ancient Shaoxing, when a daughter was born in a wealthy family, her parents would carve beautiful potteries of Huadiao (yellow wine) and bury them in the ground. When the daughter got married, they would take the wine out and enjoy happily with the guests.
Nu'er Hong is crafted from pure grains. It contains large amount of essential amino acid and vitamins. Moderate drinking leads to health benefits and a longer life.
