DoubleWood 12 whisky was launched in 1993, using a process pioneered by the winery's Honorary Ambassador and Former Malt Master David C. Stewart in 1982, now commonly known as 'wood finishing'.
Firstly it aged for 12 years in traditional whisky casks which mellows the maturating spirit. Further maturation in European Oak Sherry casks for several months to increase complexity. It gains its distinctive character from being matured in two different wood types.
There are many ways to enjoy The Balvenie. Neat, over ice, with a few drops of water or to enjoy a glass of whisky pairing with tea, as well as making tea cocktails.
