Domaine Simon Colin is one of the rising stars of Chassagne-Montrachet. Born into a long-established winemaking family in the village, Simon Colin gained experience at renowned wineries in France and abroad before founding his own domaine in 2020. He took over a selection of prime family vineyard holdings around Chassagne-Montrachet and follows a low-intervention approach to highlight each site's terroir.
La Maltroie is a historic Premier Cru located in the heart of Chassagne-Montrachet. Dominated by clay and limestone soils with excellent drainage and sun exposure, the vineyard produces wines with a firm structure, impressive depth, and strong ageing potential.

The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroie 1er Cru is flinty and slightly fumé in style, with lifted mineralité and plenty of energy here. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly more honeyed texture. There's ample extract here with grippier tannins on the finish. Give this time because this is a serious Chassagne.
