Vincent Dancer, originally from Alsace, returned to his mother’s village of Chassagne-Montrachet in 1996 to establish his own domaine. Spanning only about 5 hectares, the estate was a pioneer of organic viticulture in the village and the first to receive official organic certification. His low-intervention winemaking yields wines of notable purity, precision, and tension, earning the domaine cult status among collectors. The estate is now under the stewardship of his son, Théo.

La Romanée is one of the highest-elevation Premier Crus in Chassagne-Montrachet. Its steep, limestone-rich slopes and cool microclimate, paired with Dancer’s restrained approach of eschewing bâtonnage, keep oak influence understated. This preserves pure white floral aromas, crisp acidity, and a distinct mineral core, making it Vincent Dancer’s most tightly wound and precise cuvée.

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Romanée is also showing beautifully from bottle, offering up notes of pear, green apple, crisp cantaloupe melon, bee pollen, citrus oil, pastry cream and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, racy and precise, with a tensile, incisive profile and considerable concentration[...].
