ITR000130

Palazzina Single Vineyard Barbaresco

First planted in 1966, from a grower to producer. Montaribaldi is a family owned estate from the heart of Barbaresco region.

The Barbaresco DOCG Palazzina is a red wine, aged 20 months in oak barrels, produced with Nebbiolo grapes coming from the DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) area of Barbaresco. The Barbaresco DOCG Palazzina is an important, long-lived, elegant wine.

Denomination:
Barbaresco DOCG, Italy

Country of Origin:
Italy

Type:
Red/Rouge (Still)

Grape Variety:
Nebbiolo

Vinification:
Once in the winery, grapes are destemmed and crushed. Then, they are put in stainless steel thermo-conditioned tanks where the alcoholic fermentation takes place. Alcoholic fermentation lasts at least one week at a temperature of 28-30°C.After racking and pouring, the wine remains in contact with its lees (temperature of  20-22 °C) for at least two months while it completes the malo-lactic fermentation.

Now the wine is ready to start the ageing in oak barrels.  Both once-used barriques (225 L) and oak barrels (2,500-3,000l) are used.  Ageing lasts 20 months. Eventually, after  almost 2 years from the harvest, the Barbaresco DOCG Palazzina is bottled and, after at least 4 months of storage in our cellar, it is ready to be marketed.

Tasting Notes:
Colour: Ruby-red with garnet-red tints
Scent in perfume: Great and rich as only the nebbiolo vine can express. The viola and the rose blend well with the scents of plum, cocoa, tobacco, wood fruit and cinnamon
Flavour: Austere tannins of big power fill the mouth, nevertheless without causing bitter sensations or setting teeth on edge. On the contrary, the tannin, together with alcohol, gives sweet and velvet sensations. The ending is long with sensations reminding of brown-fruit jam
Serving temperature: 18°C
Food pairings: Salami, pasta, red meat and white cheeses
