Immich-Batterieberg is one of the most historic estates in the Mosel. Founded and helmed by the Immich family since 1425 (until 1989), it was revived in 2009 by the talented winemaker Gernot Kollmann and his partners.
Its premier site, Zeppwingert, was ranked in the highest tier of the 1868 Prussian Vineyard Classification, representing some of the finest terroir in the Middle Mosel. It is home to centenarian ungrafted vines on quartzite-grey slate, which imparts remarkable depth and structure to the Rieslings.
Kollmann specializes in dry and off-dry Rieslings crafted with minimal intervention. By eschewing chaptalization, concentration, de-acidification, and chemical fining agents—with only minimal sulfur added at bottling—he produces wines that are structurally precise, vibrantly alive, and perfectly balanced.

Immich's 2020 Enkircher Zeppwingert Riesling displays a shining golden-yellow color and opens with a very clear, pure, deep, excitingly complex and dense but also fine bouquet with stony and herbal aromas as well as almond, oak and ripe Riesling fruit. The nose is subtle and sublime like a high-end perfume with a fantasy of aromas. The palate follows this with great finesse, subtleness and complexity. It's vital and tensile and highly stimulating on the salty finish that reveals palate-tickling mineral grip, which makes this an irresistible grand cru from the spectacular, steep Zeppwingert with its 100+-year-old vines that were world famous even before Fritz Lang, Bertolt Brecht, Kurt Weill or Arnold Schönberg. The finish is very long, intense and perfectly round.
