Pichler-Krutzler "Rothenhof" Alte Reben(Old Vine) Gruner Veltliner 2022 (Falstaff: 92-94)

ATW0037

Elisabeth Pichler-Krutzler from the Wachau and Erich Krutzler from the Burgenland founded their own wine estate in the Wachau in 2006. Both husband and wife originated from famous wine-making families. Together, they craft wines of great soul and individuality, based on a respect form nature, sustainable viticultural practice and low intervention.

At the Rothenhof site, the old vines are over 80 years old. The Rothenhof site was first mentioned in a document in 1756, has an impressive slope ranging from 21 to 81 degrees and is relatively small with just over 5.00 hectares of vineyards. Black earth and lots of gravel allow the vines to inhale their typical minerality. The wine has a wonderful inner tension, is dense and compact, inspires with youthful esprit and a subtle note of pepperThe acidity is substantial, but also very well integrated into the wine. It impresses not only with its inner strength but also with its elegance and finesse.
