The history of L’Oratoire des Papes dates back to the year 1880, when Edouard Amouroux was bequeathed by marriage a beautiful vine parcel. The estate took its name from the small chapel located in their Southern Rhone Valley vineyards. This small chapel was dedicated to Saint-Marc, patron saint of winemakers and protector of the vine against bad weather.

The estate is recognized worldwide for its quality and its 'handmade' label which was designed during the Art Deco artistic movement. The label features strong symbols of the Pope and the image of Saint-Marc. It is well known throughout the world by wine lovers and collectors alike.

Medium deep garnet with a purpe hue. Nuanced nose blending raw meat, garrigue, sweet plum, Kirsch and ripe red berries. Nice density and weight with balanced proportions between finely grained tannins, abundant red fruit, leather, wild herbal spiciness and fine layers, warm and persistent finish.
