Founded in 1999 by the Boisset family in Burgundy, Domaine de la Vougeraie brings together vineyards acquired over time with the family’s own holdings. Today the estate spans 44 hectares, with around 70% dedicated to red wines, covering 6 grands crus, 8 premiers crus, and 11 village appellations.
Guided by famed consultant, Pascal Marchand, the Domaine has embraced organic practices from the beginning and adopted biodynamics in 2001, revealing Burgundy’s terroir with clarity and finesse.
Among its sites, Savigny-lès-Beaune stands out for its rich history, once held by dukes, clergy, and the Knights of Malta. Les Marconnets is in a splendid location on the Beaune side of the steep hillside. The soil, though calcareous further down the hill, is sandy and pebbly here, rich in iron, an ideal setting for old vines.

The wood treatment here is almost invisible and easily allows the ultra-fresh earthy red and dark cherry, earth and humus-nuanced aromas to shine. The punchy, round and delicious flavors possess very good detail and a subtle minerality while offering fine length on the firm, palate coating and equally built-to-age finish. This youthfully austere effort should be approachable after 6 or so years. Outstanding.
