Vintage

(2014)
La Fleur de Bouard

Made from the oldest vines growing in ground made up of large stones lying on top of clay, Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard expresses the full character of the property’s old Merlot grapes which are the only variety to be used. These very old vines obviously have very low yields of 15 to 29 hectolitres per hectare.

The wine is aged for a very long time: 33 months in barrels including 18 months on fine lees. The resulting wine is smooth and elegant. It has perfect balance and lovely freshness. This lush, mouth-filling wine reveals a wide range of aromas and outstanding elegance.

Red/Rouge (Still)

Vinification:
- Preferment maceration at 8-10°C.

30 months, including 18 months on fine lees, in 100% new oak barrels. The wine was neither been fined or filtered.

Tasting Notes:
(2010)
This wine ratchets up the level of extract, power, density and richness as well as tannin, so it needs 3-4 years of cellaring and can keep, I would assume, for up to two decades (...)This is a beauty, a full-throttle, pedal-to-the-metal Lalande de Pomerol that is impossible to believe comes from a less heralded appellation.

(2011)

The 2011 La Fleur de Bouard, a blend of 85% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc and a tiny bit of Cabernet Sauvignon, averaged 13.7% natural alcohol. A powerful, rich, dense ruby/purple-colored effort, it offers blueberry, chocolate and espresso notes, full body, good acidity, and excellent purity and length.

(2014)
The Le Plus de Bouard 2014 is stoic and introverted at the moment. The palate is full-bodied and dense with thick, chewy tannin, sinewy in style, but missing persistence on the finish. (Issued in 2015)
