Louis Jadot is one of most important wine producers and negociants in Burgundy. It was found in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Jadot, start with the purchase of the Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules in 1826.
The label of Maison Louis Jadot’s wines are characterised by the instantly recognisable image of Bacchus’s head. An image that has become, in many ways, the signature of the house and a symbol of its identity.
The firm was acquired in 1985 by the owners of US wine importer Kobrand, which still owns the company and imports Jadot's wines into the US.
Today, high reputation was built, with a portfolio that covers everything from inexpensive Bourgogne and Beaujolais wines to several grand cru wines, from the Côte de Beaune to Chablis.
The Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru appellation is shared by the two villages Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses in the Northern part of the Côte de Beaune. The village of Aloxe-Corton has the rare ability of having over half of its area covered by Grand Cru vineyards. The exposure ranges from east to south and southwest.
Morgeot is recognized as one of the top 1er Crus in the village, with its notable climat being ‘Clos de la Chapelle,’ which encircles an old chapel. Domaine Duc de Magenta is a prestigious estate that is exclusively vinified and distributed by Louis Jadot through a long-term contract. Within the Morgeot 1er Cru vineyard, Duc de Magenta holds the monopoly as the sole owner of ‘Clos de la Chapelle.’

Manual harvest. The grapes are then gently pressed and fermented in the in-house cooperage. 1/3 are new barrels. Aging usually lasts 15 months on fine lees before bottling.

A rich and powerful Chassagne-Montrachet with some pineapple character, due to the very ripe vintage, next to the citrus that we expect. Built on quite an imposing scale, but with lovely lemon-zest freshness and fine tannins that support the flamboyant body. Long, quite stony finish. From organically grown grapes.
